The science
It isn't old age.It's lost oil.
Asphalt is two things held together: asphaltenes, the hard solid part, and maltenes, the oils that keep it flexible. On an East Bay roof, five or six rainless months of hard UV bake those oils out. Oxygen finishes the job.
What's left looks old. It's stiff, it cracks, it sheds granules into the gutter. So it gets called "end of life," and the recommendation that follows is a tear-off. But in many cases the shingle itself is still there — it's just dry.
ShingleLock is a water-based emulsion of chemically modified soybean oil. It soaks into the shingle and replenishes the oil phase, so the asphalt can flex again and grip its granules. Rejuvenation is preventive care for sound shingles. It does not fix leaks or damage, and not every roof qualifies.
